Marri Khokhran Gujrat

Marri Khokhran is a village of Masaajid and Mazars, It has eight Masaajid and six Mazaars (shrines). It is situated in Gujrat on bank of river Chenab near Tanda and Head Marala. Agriculture is the profession of the residents of Marri Khokhran. However many people are serving in different government departments. Khokhar, Jatt and Syed are main castes of village. Village has a degree college “Muslim Degree College for Girls Marri Khokhran” and two government schools; one for boys and other for girls. Village has a status of Union Council.

Kurri Sharif is a beautiful village of Gujrat. Its surrounding villages are Marri Khokhran, Sheikh Chughani, Bhagowal, Tanda, Barrilla Sharif,  Behlolpur, Shampur, Chubara and Randheer.

This village is near Head Marala.

Majority of the people of Kurri Sharif are farmers.

Mangowal or Mungowal Gharbi is a famous big town of Gujrat. It is situated about 15 Km away from Gujrat city on Gujrat Sargodha Road.

Hazrat Sarkar Shah Daula Pir Daryai (R.A.) was a famous Sufi Saint of 11th or 12th century. His shrine is situated in between Mohallah Chah Beri Wala and Garrhi Ahmed Abad. People from all across the Pakistan visits this shrine daily.

Sain Kanwa Wali Sarkar Karam Elahi was a famous Sufi Saint. A fair (Maila) held on the shrine of Kanwan Wali Sarkar each year at the occasion of Urs (anniversary).

Hazrat Qibla Pir syed Walayat Ali Shah (R.A.) was a Sufi saint of gujrat and a worthy follower of Ameer-e-Millat Pir syed Jamaat Ali Shah (R.A.). His shrine is situated in Mohallah Ali Pura. He had 7 sons; all of them are Hafiz-e-Quran.

Gujrat has 3 Nishan-e-Haider Awards out of total 10 awards. Nishan-e-Haider may be translated as emblem of Haider (Hazrat Ali R.A.). It is the highest military award of Pakistan and awarded to those officers or soldiers of Pakistan Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) who shows extreme braveness and courage to defend Pakistan.  Following three soldiers of Pakistan Army were recipients of Nishan-e-Haider who belongs to Gujrat.
